'Light' Chicken Fried Steak
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 3 cups cornflakes, crushed
- 2 teaspoons The Lady's House Seasoning
- 4 cube steaks
- 1/2 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 1/4 cup fat-free half-and-half
- Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Spray a rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray.
- Place flour on a plate.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk milk, egg, and hot sauce.
- Place crushed cornflakes with 1 teaspoon House Seasoning on another plate.
- Season steaks with remaining seasoning.
- Dredge steaks in flour, then egg mixture, then cornflakes.
- Place steaks on baking sheet and spray tops lightly with cooking spray.
- Bake about 15 minutes.
Gravy
- Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon beef broth.
- Combine with remaining broth and half-and-half in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Season generously with pepper and serve over steaks.
The Lady's House Seasoning
- 1 cup salt
- 1/4 cup black pepper
- 1/4 cup garlic powder
Mix together and store airtight.
